At Active Escapes we utilize only a few trusted guides for specific tours, and our pick of the bunch is Carlos Gonzalez. Also based in Howick, Carlos is a Spanish native who wound up in our neck of the woods through a fortuitous meeting while travelling in South America. His accidental meeting with Bridget Ringdahl, now his wife, brought him to our foreign land and he has spent the last few years setting up his professional guiding business, Span African Adventures.

Very much along the lines of expeditioning, Carlos is kept busy guiding intrepid travelers through the Drakensberg and offers some incredible overseas biking tours. Recently Carlos announced the dates for two amazing bike tours for 2012, and we thought it would be cool to share the love and point our readers in his direction. The Indian Himalayas cycle tour is offered twice this year, while the ‘Camino de Santiago’ bike trip in Spain will be in it’s inaugural run in May – both of which you can contact Carlos about directly. These are big trips for people who really want to push the envelope of what they’re used too, and I don’t think anyone comes back from the Himalayas without a deep sense of satisfaction after completing this journey.
